Beaucoup des VS Beaucoup de

So apparently not everyone is familiar with the rule, so I thought to write a post on this topic.

Always remember this, and you would have no cause to be mistaken. It’s always “Beaucoup de” + noun even if the noun is plural.

J’ai beaucoup de livres. (I have a lot of books.)

Il y a beaucoup de touristes ici. (There are a lot of tourists here.)

Elle mange beaucoup de fruits. (She eats a lot of fruit.)

Beaucoup de turns to Beaucoup d’ in front of a noun that starts with a vowel

Il y a beaucoup d’arbres ici. (There are lots of trees here.)

J’ai besoin de beaucoup d’argent. (I need a lot of money.)
