5 WAYS TO SAY “THANK YOU” IN FRENCH
1. Merci (pronounced “mer-see”): The most common and general way to say “thank you”, in french.
- Tu m’as aidé à déménager, merci ! (You helped me move, thank you!)
2. Merci beaucoup” (pronounced “mer-see bo-ku”): This in English , simply means “thank you very much”, and it is used to express gratitude.
- Tu m’as offert un cadeau incroyable, merci beaucoup !” (You gave me an incredible gift, thank you very much!)
3. Merci bien (pronounced “mer-see bee-an”): This is another way of showing appreciation. It is slightly a more formal way to say “thank you.”
- Tu m’as aidé de faire mon devoir, merci bien! (You helped me with my homework, thank you!)
4. Merci infiniment (pronounced ” mer-see an-fi-ne-manh”): Means “a thousand thanks”, which is used to express deep gratitude.
